Aine Scannell
Name: Aine Scannell

I am originally from Cork, which is on the south western coast of Ireland.

I am nuts about art and have been for most of my life - I love printmaking; I studied originally as a painter and only realized that it wasn’t the “appropriate” medium for me when I was in the middle of doing my M.F.A. in fine art, in Barcelona (Winchester School of Art).
That was in 1992, after which– I started taking printmaking courses at local and then central London colleges. .
I was then fortunate enough to be awarded a residency at Lowick Print Studios (now disbanded) in Cumbria, which was the best time ever. With my own technician ---heaven!!
In 1997, I got a place on the M.A. printmaking course at Wimbledon School of Art, London.
After the post-graduate printmaking course at Wimbledon I continued with my printmaking practice at the London Print Studio. By this time I had acquired my own small printmaking press and had set up a home studio which was in quite a lovely attic location.

I moved up to Scotland in Dec 2006 and am an active member of our local artists run print workshop FDPW.

The most recent significant print exhibition I presented work in – was in Falun in Sweden which came about from being one of the artist featured in the “Printmaking on the Edge” book by Richard Noyce. (recently published by A & C Black, London.
